In our Italian household, good food and drink weren't just preferences; they were an ingrained tradition. We lived and breathed a commitment to quality and flavor. The very notion of compromising on these standards never crossed our minds.
It's not solely about perfection or purism; I affirm that sometimes, "the enemy of good is better." The essence lies in establishing a robust foundation and a dedication to doing things right. Drawing inspiration from the steadfast principles set by my father, a skilled stone mason, I learned that crafting something enduring, adaptable, and worthy of pride demands strength and precision without compromise. As Vince Lombardi wisely said, “Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection, we can catch excellence.”
As an Italian American, my love for and appreciation of authenticity and rich heritage run deep. My journey into taste experimentation took on a new dimension when my brother Gino shared a brilliant Limoncello recipe. The challenge emerged when its excellence surpassed others in the market -- it was almost too good. This exquisite Limoncello, with its smoothness and brilliant taste, presented a dilemma; its high alcohol content made even a small glass a substantial experience. An internal struggle ensued: "More of a good thing isn't always a good thing."
